Mission

We have set out to share Adalida’s story. Angel Adalida's mission is to help educate medical facilities on what to look for when dealing with histiocytosis due to the time sensitive severity of this disease. We also want to work towards advancement in research since little is known across the board of etiology and prevalence. Finally and most importantly, we want to help families that suddenly find their lives thrown into this new normal and have financial needs to be met.

History

Adalida Ann Boudreaux was born on October 22, 2017. By all standards Ada was normal with an uneventful birth and was right on target if not ahead of meeting her mental and physical milestones. Other than a runny nose that winter she was a healthy and perfect baby in every way to her parents. September 11, 2018 that all changed when she was rushed to the local hospital after spiking a high fever. She would later be airlifted to Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston, Texas. The staff would not be able to give us any definitive answers until the next day but as the day drew to an end Adalida's organs would begin to fail giving her over to God late in the night. While HLH can be very aggressive, there are success stories and we hope to be a small part in increasing that number.

In October 2018 Adalida’s parents formed this foundation to help change someone else's story. By presenting her case to hospitals, we can create an atmosphere of quicker diagnosis and quicker access to treatment. We can put forth efforts to find not only some but all genetic markers for histiocytosis diseases, or ways to alter gene expression. Many families will face financial burdens of hospital, travel, treatment, and even funeral expenses. Angel Adalida would like to be a resource for such families. So many individuals were a support to Adalida's parents during this time and they would like to mirror that to others in need.
